Design and production by Printed by 74.8 GRAMS CARBON © Winchester Resident Magazine 2019 T HERE’S SOMETHING about these crisp autumn days as, slowly, excitement builds, and we become aware that Christmas is just around the corner. The glorious colours make this my favourite season, but I prefer it with fine weather. Growth may slow all around but as the harvest yields its finest, it’s nice to hunker down at home or go out to explore local businesses, markets packed with seasonal produce and browse the various independent shops. This issue took me to Morestead, where I met thoroughbred trainer Chris Gordon and discovered that racing is accessible to all. Local author Tony Kenyon has published a book of legends which are ideal to enjoy around the autumn fireside, whilst Winchester Cathedral is getting ready for its famous Christmas Market – one of publisher Guy Hanson’s annual favourites. I also sampled Holiday Inn Winchester’s new spa for a fabulous face and body treatment, spot on for this time of year. Whether you are carving pumpkins or walking amidst the fine foliage, enjoy autumn.
