OFFICER TRAINING AT RAF CRANWELL

DEVELOP AS A LEADER AND WORK WITH THE BEST OF THE BEST
Following basic recruit training at RAF Halton , you will then undertake Reserves Officer Initial Training ( ROIT ) at RAF College Cranwell . This course runs parttime over four months and is designed to develop leadership and Officer qualities required of Air Force Officers .
It ’ s a challenging course that includes weekends ( encompassing classroom and
external activities ), distance learning and a two-week residential period . During the residential phase , Officer Cadets take on a demanding leadership exercise ( EXERCISE MILAID ) in a remote location , applying the theoretical knowledge in a practical military environment . The course is delivered by the Officer and Aircrew Cadet Training Unit ( OACTU ) personnel
and external speakers from universities provide a wide and varied syllabus . Whilst progression is rapid , there are staff and peer reviews to ensure cadets receive positive feedback . The highlight of the course is graduation day , when cadets invite their loved ones to their passing out ceremony where they transition from Officer Cadets to Royal Air Force Reserves Officers .
