NATIONALITY

You must be one of the following : l British citizen l British national / dual national l Commonwealth citizen l Irish Republic national

RESIDENCY

You must have been a UK resident for a minimum of �ive years immediately preceding application , and have spent no more than 28 days per year outside the UK within those three years . UK residents of less than three years , or those who have spent more than 28 days per year outside the UK , will require more eligibility checks .

AGE

The RAF Reserves takes applications from people between the ages of 18-54 ( you need to attest before your 55th birthday ). However , if you have specialist skills that we need , we may take you even if you are outside the age range .

EDUCATION

Check the website for the educational requirements for your role .

FITNESS l All applicants must pass a fitness test l Eyesight requirements vary for different roles l Some medical conditions may preclude entry into the RAF

BACKGROUND

All applicants are required to : l Undergo a basic background check to obtain security clearance

DISQUALIFYING FACTORS

The following are not permitted : l Extreme political affiliations l Offensive tattoos or adornments including tattoos visible above the neck or below the cuffs l Body piercing that causes holes that do not close up l Substance abuse and pending court appearances l Candidates who declare themselves to be an ‘ undischarged ’ bankrupt l Unspent convictions
