AM I TOO OLD
Q TO JOIN ? The RAF Reserves takes applications from people between the ages of 18-54 ( you need to attest before your 55th birthday ). However , if you have specialist skills that we need , we may take you even if you are outside the age range .

HOW MUCH
Q TIME DO I NEED TO GIVE ? We ask you to give us a minimum of 27 days a year , which is broken down into weekends and a two-week period of continuous training . However , we know that you have a life and other commitments so once you have completed your basic training dates can be negotiated and discussed with your squadron boss who will try and fit training around you .

IF I DECIDE
Q TO JOIN WHEN WOULD I START ? Before you join you need to complete some paperwork , pass the selection test and have an interview with the squadron you wish to join . This will all be done around your availability and at your pace . Once you have completed these elements of the selection process you will be attested and become part of the RAF Reserves . Your training could then begin straight away .

FREQUENTLY ASKED WHAT IS BASIC
Q TRAINING LIKE ? Basic training will probably be different from anything you have ever done before , but most people find it both challenging and fun . You will be training alongside other new recruits and will soon form friendships . Together you will help each other through the challenges of the training , which will equip you to meet anything life in the RAF Reserves can throw at you .
