NEWS IN BRIEF Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement is going global - in fact, two members of the team will be spreading the word in Sri Lanka at the end of July. The Medical Research Council (MRC) has funded a £200,000 research partnership which will establish a register of infant, child, and adolescent twins in Sri Lanka. The register will create a foundation for future research into mental illness within low and middle-income countries. Adele Higginbottom and Steven Blackburn will join colleagues Professor Athula Sumathipala, Christian Mallen and Tom Shepherd at the three day conference, working with Prof. Sumathipala on a pre- conference workshop on PPIE. RUG member and Arthritis Research UK campaigner Christine Walker has been featured on the charity’s latest campaign around ‘Aids and Adaptations,’ Christine spent a day with a professional film crew at her home to demonstrate the day to day difficulties of living with arthritis. You can read more about Christine’s journey, and watch the video, on the Arthritis Research UK website https://www.arthritisresearchuk.org/support- us/get-involved/campaign-with-us/current- campaigns/care-and-support/aids-and- adaptations.aspx LINK group member and Haywood Hospital volunteer Patricia Callaghan has joined the committee of the Haywood Foundation. You can read more about Patricia here: http:// www.haywoodfoundation.org.uk/ This year, the PPIE team are focussing on three main themes - Dissemination, Diversity and improving standards. In line with this and following on from the Annual Meeting in 2017, the LINK group have put together a Dissemination Toolkit for Knowledge Mobilisation and the Promotion of Innovation, to aid researchers in sharing their research findings with wider audiences.
