#KeeleINSPIRE - Implementing the New Standards for
Public Involvement in Research Environment
The new National Standards
for Public Involvement were
launched this year and the
PPIE team are pleased to
announce that as a result of our
experience and commitment to
embedding PPIE in research
and implementation, we were
successful in our application
to be one of the ten test beds
in the UK to put the Standards
into practice. Care Research.
The
INSPIRE
Project
(Implementing
the
New
Standards
for
Public
Involvement
in
Research
Environments) is in partnership
with our Research User Group,
the NIHR School for Primary
Care Research, NIHR Research
Design Service West Midlands,
and the West Midlands regional
public involvement network
(PILAR). The project has
received matched funding from
the NIHR School for Primary Steven Blackburn commented:
“As a Research Institute,
we undertake a lot of public
involvement. We need to ensure
that we engage with our RUG
members in the best possible
way. We look forward to seeing
how the standards can improve
our current practices and make
a difference to future research.”
Over 12 months, we will assess
the impact of implementing the
Standards on improving the
quality and visibility of public
involvement practices across
the Research Institute, ensuring
successes and learning are
shared with regional and
national partners throughout
the lifecycle of the project.
“In the future, we want
the standards to be
seen by groups and
organisations large and
small; public, private
and charitable as an
essential tool in guiding
their public involvement.
I firmly believe the
pioneering partnership
that has been at the heart
of these standards all
along can only strengthen
their case in this regard.”
