3 CENTRE UPDATES NEW SCHOOL NAME The Research Institute for Primary Care and Health Sciences has now become the School of Primary, Community and Social Care, within the Faculty of Health. We are pleased to now welcome counselling and social care students into the building. RDS AND PPIE ADVICE CLINICS Steven Blackburn and Adele Higginbottom run a monthly RDS/PPIE (Research Design Service/Patient & Public Involvement and Engagement) Advice Clinic for researchers. There is a small group of 4 RUG members who also take turns to join this clinic. Researchers with proposals for new studies will meet with Steven Adele and a RUG member to discuss their study, including giving advice on where, when and how PPIE can be involved throughout. Having a RUG member present has worked very well, the researchers have enjoyed having their input and expertise for how patient involvement can enhance their studies. IMPACT ACCELERATOR UNIT The Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement team and the Implementation team have joined together as part of the wider Impact Accelerator Unit (IAU). The aim of this is to enable Patient and Public Involvement members to spot innovation early in the research cycle so that research can help patients sooner. Patient involvement in research (Research User Group) and patient involvement in knowledge mobilisation / implementation (LINK group) will carry on as usual. Professor Krysia Dziedzic is the Director for the Unit, Mrs Helen Duffy Deputy Director, Mrs Nicki Evans is the Unit Manager and Dr Steven Blackburn is leading PPIE. (Please note, both teams have now moved offices into one big room and are no longer located downstairs at the front of the building. ) RECEPTION CHANGES School of Primary, Community and Social Care The new School of Primary, Community and Social Care has a new reception area.
