RESEARCH FACILITIES
Bioimaging Platform
Platform Leader: Dr Satoshi Ogawa
Bioimaging is a tool to create structural or functional images of living objects or systems at the levels of tissues, cellular,
subcellular and molecular structures. Bioimaging is an essential technology in a number of research fields including
structural biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, pharmacology, agricultural sciences, biomedical science and
neuroscience (=neuroimaging). Bioimaging allows non-invasive analysis of brain anatomy and function in living animals,
thus opening up unprecedented ways of exploring brain function.
In 2015, we installed the multiphoton microscope system and renovated the f acility in Building 3 Level 3. From 2015 to
the present day, we have been providing technical services/equipment use to academics from Monash University and
other institutions, as well as industry researchers. Technical workshops and seminars have been held yearly which have
attracted a number of local and international participants as well as sponsors from industries.
The Bioimaging Facility at Monash University Malaysia will strive to achieve the following goals in the next three years:
• to enhance our imaging facility to conduct multidisciplinary research projects
• to provide a comprehensive and world-class bioimaging service to campus-wide users and the scientific community in
Malaysia.
