Women especially black women are
negatively portrayed in the media. They are either
overly sexualized or portrayed as the “angry black
women” by having them fighting each other on TV. This
leaves one wondering, what do you show your daughter
on TV. We are a media obsessed generation, it is
important to make sure that when your niece sees girls
who look like her on TV, that is why RESA is putting
the spotlight on these two beautiful ladies who have
showed us pride and fierceness by simply being
themselves.
As a beautiful young lady that you are, it
shouldn’t matter whether you are yellow, white blue or
orange. Beauty is what is in the inside. Beauty is what
you are when you just be yourself.
Gabby Douglas was the first woman in Olympic history
to become the individual All-around Champion. She
won gold in both gymnastic and we couldn’t be any
more proud of her.
