Julie Powell played by Amy Adams from the hit and scrumptious movie Julie and Julia said and wrote on her blog “ is there anything more comforting than butter ?” She utterly loved butter whisked into her ingredients creating satiating dishes . For my part , I am a selfconfessed chocoholic day in and day out . But when we talk about cold comforts – made from dairy products that have been chilled , that ’ s a different story – even with coughs , there were times when I could not help but give in to temptation .
Buzbox Scrambles
Much to my surprise , I first saw a kiosk of the reincarnation of scramble in SM North Edsa early last year . As I child , I used to enjoy eating scramble when visiting my relatives in Pasay City – scramble was in the same league as Dirty Ice Cream – the sellers had a moving cart and would advertise what they were selling by shouting .
Today scramble has evolved – from its plain pink-colored crushed ice with sugar , now one serving is topped with powdered milk , cherry-colored syrup , chocolate-flavored syrup and you can actually choose from a number of toppings to add – chocolate chips , chocolate sprinkles , mini-marshmallows , and a whole lot more .
Of the kiosks that I have seen in malls in Quezon City , Makati and Parañaque , BuzBox Scrambles in SM MOA actually reminds me of the olden days of scramble . This one caters to the sunset audience of Manila Bay , thus a moving cart was necessary . Three men , armed with their pink-colored crushed ice in a thermo-container , two syrups and several toppings , they march along the concrete sea-wall and stop to serve every customer with any of their three sizes – small at Php10 , medium at Php14 and large at Php17 and Php4 for every topping added . Not bad , for a quick cold rush .
Spike ’ s Frozen Treats
How can I not like Spike ’ s Frozen Treats ? For one , it reminds me of my favorite stuffed animals – their logo has an adorable bear with a scarf , holding a cup of sundae . Their stall at SM MOA has a life-size bear inviting you to try their frozen treats . What ’ s more ? Their serving sizes are termed on how my own “ beary family ” is termed – baby bear means
