In March 2013, Christine
qualified as a Level 2 gym
instructor through Aspire’s
InstructAbility programme,
gaining her Level 3 Personal
Trainer qualification in
February 2015.
‘In June 2015 I gained my
Action In Recovery of
Neurological Injury (which I
used as part of my recovery).
This gave me a FRETS
(Functional Rehabilitation
and Exercise Training after
Stroke) Instructors
qualification at Level 4.
‘In January 2016 I started my
own business Inspire Rehab
and Fitness . I am now
working out in the
community with fellow stroke
survivors helping and
motivating them to regain
their function and be the best
they can be.’

Christine Dunn, from Flitwick
had a major stroke in 2012.
‘The stroke left me with
impairments to the left side
of my body. There isn’t a lot
of support when you leave
hospital, so my husband and
I started to work out our own
methods of recovery. As
soon as I started to walk
without a stick he would get
me to run with him by my
side to catch me in case I
fell. We started off with
30-second jogs with a
minute’s walk in between.
