unning is
booming.
According to
Sport England’s
Active People Survey,
the number of weekly runners
in England rose by 63,000 to
2.1 million in 2015.
A record 247,069 people
applied for a place in the 2016
London Marathon and more
than 55 per cent of those were
looking to tackle the 26.2 miles
for the first time.
Far from taking trade away
from the gym floor as runners
flock to the park to get their
workout for free in the fresh air,
the growth in running offers an
opportunity for personal trainers.
As the popularity of running
builds, so will the number of
clients you’ll encounter who are
looking for help and support
training for long-distance events.
Running is a great sport and
people take it up for many
different reasons.
For some it might be
motivated by a desire to get fitter
