Specialty School PROGRAMS Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math [STEAM] @ Anoka High School The Center for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math (STEAM) program at Anoka High School is designed for students who want to focus on technology/computer science skills while ex- ploring the connections between the arts, sciences, engineering, and math. This program will provide a unique hands-on experience for students with a strong interest in technology, the arts, math, science and engineering and will integrate subjects in an inquiry-based, hands-on curriculum in a way that more closely aligns with what stu- dents will experience in college, the workforce and lifelong learning. STEAM uses project based learning that focuses on commitment, engagement, performance, reflection and understanding in order to guide students to lead the next generation. They will experience the parallels of the artistic, scientific, and design processes and delve into 3D modeling and design, electronics, engineering, digital media, and fabrication. The classes in the STEAM program will strengthen students’ abilities to be creative and flexible problem solvers, to explore different ideas, to recognize failures as opportu- nities for discovery and to communicate well with others.
