Credit By Assessment Anoka-Hennepin students in grades 9-12 may earn course credit and meet graduation requirements by successfully demonstrating that they have met specific requirements of a course without actually taking the course. Students who have previously mastered the knowledge and skills in a district course may demonstrate their mastery through a formal High School Registration Guide process following district procedures. This process is initiated by students and first requires the completion of an application. Students interested in pursuing Credit by Assessment can request an application from their school counselor. Students turn in the completed form to the guidance school counselor. Students who are pursuing Credit by Assessment will be con- tacted by a teacher who will manage this district assessment process. Some students may wish to use College Level Examination Program [CLEP] or Advanced Placement [AP] to receive Credit by Assessment. These students are encouraged to contact their school counselor or the talent development teaching and learning specialist prior to pur- suing the testing in order to make sure all questions are answered. All students interested in pursuing Credit by Assessment should begin the process at least a trimester before the credit is required. 21
