Specialty School PROGRAMS @ Champlin Park High School International Baccalaureate [IB] is a rigorous program for 11th and 12th grade students interested in an honors pre-university course of study. The IB Diploma Programme is a two-year, full- time commitment at Champlin Park High School. Spaces are available for students from all Anoka-Hennepin high schools. IB is offered at Champlin Park HS only (see pages 49-54 for IB course descriptions). Applications accepted in Grades: 11 and 12 Benefits: • Learn sophisticated independent and collaborative study methods • Learn discussion and critical thinking skills • Strengthen writing and research abilities • High scores on IB exams can earn college credit • Internationally recognized program IB Diploma Programme is for you if: • You are interested in a challenging curriculum • You plan to go to college and want to earn credit • You enjoy learning but you do not need to be a straight “A” student Other information: • Potential IB diploma students should complete three years of French, German or Spanish by the end of 10th grade, however there are other language options if this is not done • IB curriculum is started in 11th grade and completed in 12th grade with a final exam in each of the six content areas • Minimal fee required for IB exams • IB college credit varies by school — be sure to review enrollment material from colleges you are considering attending High School Registration Guide PARK HIGH N I L [IB] International Baccalaureate Courses offered within the IB Program: IB diploma students must study and take exams in the following six areas: • First Language: IB English 11 and 12 • Second Language: IB Language B 11 and 12 [French, Spanish or German] • Individuals and Society: IB History 11 and 12 • Experimental Science: IB Science 11 and 12 [IB Chemistry or IB Biology] • Mathematics: IB Mathematics 11 and 12 [Math Studies, Standard or High Level, Further Level] • One subject of your choice from any of these groups: IB Music 11 and 12; IB Business Management 11 and 12; IB Psychology 11 or 12; IB Visual Arts 11 or 12 In addition, students are required to write an independent, researched extended essay [EE], complete the Theory of Knowledge [TOK] course, and participate in hours of Creativity, Activity and Community Service over the two year program.
