The 2014 Melbourne Festival
was a great success on many
fronts. The engagement
and participation of our
supporters: Melburnians
from all walks of life, visitors
from interstate and overseas,
State, Local and Federal
Governments, corporations,
philanthropic individuals,
artists and staff, was
widespread and meaningful.

This event was the 29th since our inaugural
festival in 1986. At that time, staged under
the direction of composer Gian Carlo
Menotti, it became the third in the Spoleto
Festival series – joining Spoleto, Italy, and
Charleston, United States. Known as Spoleto
Melbourne – Festival of the Three Worlds,
it changed its name to the Melbourne
