Melbourne Festival 2010 delivered record box office returns of $2.79 million, an increase of 0.75% on 2009’s $2.6 million.
One of the proudest achievements of the year was the considerable increase in economic impact to Melbourne. The total
contribution Melbourne Festival made to Victoria was $39.5 million* (excluding wages, venue hire, advertising et cetera),
an incredible result and a substantial improvement on 2009’s figure of $26.8 million (2008 was $18 million).
Another major accomplishment was the increase in visitors from regional Victoria, interstate and overseas who, on average,
spent an additional $1035 per person during four days in Melbourne, seeing 4.4 shows during their visit, contributing
