Review , Revision , Adoption , and Amendment 9.1 Medical Staff Responsibility
9.1.1 The Medical Staff shall have the responsibility to formulate , review at least biennially , and recommend to the Board any Medical Staff Bylaws , rules , regulations , Credentialing & Privileging Manual , policies , procedures , and amendments as needed . Amendments to the Bylaws and rules & regulations shall be effective when approved by the Board . The Medical Staff can exercise this responsibility through its elected and appointed leaders or through direct vote of its membership .
9.1.2 Such responsibility shall be exercised in good faith and in a reasonable , responsible , and timely manner . This applies as well to the review , adoption , and amendment of the related rules , policies , and protocols developed to implement the various sections of these Bylaws .
9.2 Methods of Adoption and Amendment to these Bylaws
9.2.1 Proposed amendments to these Bylaws may be originated by the MEC or by a petition signed by ten percent ( 10 %) of the members of the Active category .
9.2.2 Proposed amendments will be forwarded to and reviewed by the MEC . The MEC will present proposed amendments to the Medical Staff . The MEC may also report , either favorably or unfavorably , on the proposed amendments .
9.2.3 Each Active member of the Medical Staff will be eligible to vote on the proposed amendment via printed or secure electronic ballot in a manner determined by the MEC . All Active members of the Medical Staff shall receive at least fourteen ( 14 ) days ’ advance notice of the proposed changes . The amendment shall be considered approved by the Medical Staff by a majority vote of approval , as long as at least ten percent ( 10 %) of the voting Medical Staff have submitted ballots .
9.2.4 Amendments so adopted shall be effective when approved by the Board .
9.3 Methods of Adoption and Amendment to any Medical Staff Rules , Regulations , Credentialing & Privileging Manual ( collectively , “ Rules and Regulations ”), and Policies and Procedures
9.3.1 The Medical Staff may adopt additional rules , regulations , and policies as necessary to carry out its functions and meet its responsibilities under these Bylaws . A Rules and Regulations and / or Policies Manual may be used to organize these additional documents .
9.3.2 For proposed amendments to the Credentialing & Privileging Manual or the Rules and Regulations , the MEC shall provide the Active members of the Medical Staff a period of comment by sharing the proposed amendments to All Active members of the Medical Staff at least fourteen ( 14 ) days in advance of the MEC vote . The MEC shall vote on the proposed language changes at a regular meeting , or at a special meeting called for such purpose . Following an affirmative vote by the MEC , Rules and Regulations may be
