What is a Stroke

Pipe-like vessels, known as arteries, carry oxygenated blood from the heart to the brain.
During a stroke, blood flow in an artery in the brain is blocked, or the artery bursts.
Blocked blood flow in the arteries can cause cells in the brain to die in minutes.
The damage done to the brain can be permanent if not treated quickly.
Symptoms from a stroke, such as speech, vision, and balance issues, can be permanent.
