1.3.6 “ CERTIFIED NURSE MIDWIFE ” (“ CNM ”) means an individual who is licensed to practice as an advanced practice nurse and certified nurse midwife .
1.3.7 “ CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER ” (“ CEO ”), or designee , means the individual appointed by the Board to act on its behalf in the overall management of the Hospital .
1.3.8 “ CHIEF MEDICAL OFFICER ” (“ CMO ”) or VICE PRESIDENT , MEDICAL AFFAIRS ( VPMA ), means the physician appointed to act as the liaison of the Hospital and the Medical Staff , in cooperation with the Medical Staff Chief of Staff .
1.3.9 “ CLINICAL ASSISTANT ” means individuals other than Medical Staff members or Advanced Practice Providers or Dependent Practitioners who are authorized by law and by the Hospital to provide clinical services under the supervision of a physician .
1.3.10 “ CLINICAL PRIVILEGES ” or “ PRIVILEGES ” means the authorization granted by the Board to render specific patient care services , for which the Medical Staff leaders and Board have developed eligibility and other credentialing criteria and focused and ongoing professional practice evaluation standards .
1.3.11 “ CONSULTATION ” means a service provided by a physician or Advanced Practice Provider at the request of another provider for a specific condition or problem . A consultation does not imply the transfer of overall care of the patient to the consultant without expressed agreement of the referring provider .
1.3.12 “ CORE PRIVILEGES ” means a defined grouping of privileges for a specialty or subspecialty that includes the fundamental patient care services that are routinely taught in residency and / or fellowship training for that specialty or subspecialty and which have been determined by the Medical Staff leaders and Board to require closely related skills and experience .
1.3.13 “ DAYS ” means calendar days .
1.3.14 “ DENTIST ” means a Doctor of Dental Surgery (“ D . D . S .”) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (“ D . M . D .”).
1.3.15 “ FINAL ACTION ” means action by the Board after considering the recommendation of , or prior determination by , the Medical Executive Committee .
1.3.16 “ HOSPITAL ” means Renown Regional Medical Center , Renown South Meadows Medical Center , Renown Rehabilitation Hospital , and Renown Children ’ s Hospital .
1.3.17 “ MEDICAL EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE ” or “ MEC ” means the Executive Committee of the Medical Staff .
1.3.18 “ MEDICAL STAFF ” means all physicians , dentists , oral surgeons , and podiatrists who have been appointed to the Medical Staff by the Board .
