YOUR RENOVATION ISN ' T FINISHED UNTIL YOU THINK ABOUT THE AIR

You renovated the floors. Painted the walls. Replaced the kitchen. But there may be one part of the project you haven’ t thought about yet.
A renovation can completely transform the way a home looks, but the work happening behind the scenes can leave its own footprint.
Drywall sanding, demolition, cutting wood, removing fl ooring and installing new fi nishes can create surprising amounts of fi ne dust and debris. While some lands exactly where you expect it to, other particles can travel through the home and fi nd their way around vents, grilles and HVAC components.
In other words, the construction may be fi nished before the cleanup really is.
WHERE DOES ALL THAT DUST GO?
Keeping renovation dust contained is the fi rst line of defence. Work areas should be isolated where possible, and supply and return registers in dusty construction zones should be protected appropriately while work is taking place.
Ventilation matters too, particularly when painting, applying fi nishes or introducing new materials into the home.
Once the renovation is complete, take a closer look at the systems you can’ t see as easily as the new countertops.
THE FINISHING TOUCH YOU CAN’ T SEE
Canaduct has spent more than 20 years working with air duct and HVAC systems across the GTA, including homes following renovations. Their approach emphasizes inspection, education and helping homeowners understand what is actually happening inside their system before deciding what needs to be done.
Because a fi nished renovation shouldn’ t just photograph beautifully.
It should feel fi nished too.
THE POST-RENOVATION AIR CHECK
Look at your vents and registers. Is there visible construction dust or debris around them?
Check the HVAC filter. Renovation dust can load a fi lter faster than normal.
Notice your airfl ow. Does the system seem to be operating differently than it did before construction?
Keep cleaning. Fine renovation dust can continue settling after the major cleanup is complete.
Consider what’ s happening inside the system. If signifi cant dust or debris entered the ductwork, a professional inspection can help determine whether cleaning is warranted.
