THE PRETTY ROOM IS DEAD Why the best-designed homes are meant to be lived in.

There was a time when the nicest room in the house was also the one nobody was allowed to use. The perfect sofa stayed perfect. The dining room waited for company. Beautiful interiors sometimes felt more like museum exhibits than places to live.
Thankfully, that idea is disappearing.
A well-designed home shouldn’ t have to choose between beautiful and livable. And it certainly shouldn’ t be dictated by the label on a floor plan.
In one Tapestry Decor project, a room once designated as a dining room was reimagined as an elevated lounge and bar. The transformation wasn’ t about following convention. It was about lifestyle. The result, as Tapestry put it, became“ everyone’ s favourite room.”
That is what thoughtful design can do. It asks better questions.
Will people actually use this space? Is there enough storage for real life? Could a formal room become somewhere the family naturally gathers?
That same thinking runs through Tapestry Decor’ s work: comfort, function and personal style are considered together, not as competing priorities. That can mean planning flow before choosing furniture, selecting finishes for everyday use, or making room for favourite pieces that give a home personality.
A room built entirely around what is trending may look polished, but memorable interiors usually contain something more personal: a colour chosen because it makes the homeowner happy, a piece with a story behind it, or a layout shaped around the way a family spends its time.
The goal is not perfection. It is connection.
The best rooms are meant for coffee cups, dinner parties, quiet Sundays, pets, friends and everyday messes.
Beautiful design should make life better, not make you afraid to touch anything.
Maybe the prettiest room in the house is finally the one everyone gets to use.
