Editor ' s letter
Every fall, I seem to get bitten by the renovation bug. My wife would say I’ m just bored and looking for another project, but as a designer, my creative wheels never stop turning. And what better canvas than your own home?
Just yesterday, while Mandy and I were getting ready for the day, I casually asked if she’ d like to rip out our family bathroom and start fresh. After all these years together, she didn’ t even blink. She just gave me that familiar side-eye, rolled her eyes( probably all the way to the back of her head), and said,“ Whatever you want, sweetheart.”
And that, my friends, is the secret to a happy marriage!
Every dreamer, visionary and selfappointed creative director needs someone who has mastered the art of living through drywall dust, endless paint samples and the occasional surprise demolition. Mandy knows better than anyone that even after we finally agree on a colour, I’ ll probably want to change it again in two years.
Come to think of it, marriage is a lot like a renovation. You start with big dreams and a vision of what the future will look like. Then comes the real work: the planning, the budgeting, the unexpected surprises and, of course, figuring out how two people can have such different opinions about a bathroom faucet!
But in the end, it’ s all about creating something together. Something that feels like home, tells your story and makes you step back and say,“ We did this. And I’ m proud of us.”

Just don’ t blame me if you end up ripping out your bathroom!
