HOW TO DESIGN
a laundry room
If your laundry room is merely an afterthought, perhaps it is time to
renew your take on this important room. Designer Kelsey Kosman
shares some tips for modern laundry room design.
1
Front-loading machines free up
invaluable space for folding on top
of the machine. To make optimum use of
this space, install a countertop to create
workspace.
2
Vibrant color use is an effective way to
improve your experience doing every-
day chores. Choose a bright, cheerful, and
optimistic hue to add visual intrigue to your
laundry room walls.
3
Laundry themed decor pieces add a
fun yet practical touch to your laundry
room.
4
Laundry rooms tend to inhabit less-
than-prime real estate in the home,
be it in the basement, adjacent to the

garage, or tucked away behind the guest
bathroom. That said, as a family grows,
having your laundry room at the bottom of
a flight of stairs may end up being a hind
rance. Given the high costs associated with
plumbing, uprooting your entire laundry
system probably seems like more hassle
than it's worth. In this space, Kelsey used
the SANISWIFT by Saniflo, a modern drain
pump which boasts compact design, high
performance, and powerful and economical
pumping action. Put simply, the SANISWIFT
system makes it possible to mobilize a variety
of sanitary fixtures, including the kitchen sink,
shower, and laundry system. - Kelsey Kosman, www.
