Renovating their custom home to make it their own has been a passion project for this busy young family since they bought the home back in 2015 . Designer Christine Elliott has worked with the family over the years , finishing the basement and master bedroom . At that time , initial plans , colors and most finishes were selected for the whole home in order to provide an overall vision for the project . Part of this process meant ensuring that the designs reflect a timeless style with classic finishes so that when the renovations are complete , the home maintains a fresh , coordinated feel .
The original plan was to update the kitchen , keeping the existing footprint , but after living in the home and using the space , the family was able to determine what really worked and what didn ’ t . As a result , the decision was made to expand the mudroom into the existing 2.5 car garage which allowed for more storage , an updated powder room and a separate laundry room . They also chose to open up the wall between the living room and kitchen to create an open concept layout .
