This 80s built kitchen lacked storage and felt closed off from the rest of the home . With entertaining in mind , an opening into the great room was created to give it an open concept feel . Designing a large island and making use of the 10 foot ceilings by taking the cabinetry up to the top added much needed storage . With outdated colors and features and a lack of storage , this bathroom needed a new look ! The renovated bathroom features a quartz countertop vanity with porcelain tile floor and a tub / shower combo with rain head and jet shower unit . Rather than replacing the cabinetry , this kitchen was given a face-lift with paint ! Some changes were made to the trim work to ensure no light was being blocked and then the cabinet doors were removed and brought back to the Splash of Charm shop to be cleaned and prepped . The cabinet doors were then sprayed with two coats of bonding primer and three coats of cabinet paint with a built-in urethane sealant for added durability . Once complete , the pieces that were not removed ( trim , panels , island , etc ) were painted on site and cabinet doors were reinstalled . In this outdated home , the cabinets , floors and staircase needed to go ! Designed to entertain large groups , removing a railing and adding multiple pot lights really opened up and brightened this room ! The built-in cabinets with fireplace allows for ample storage space . The accent wall , made of brick inspired tiles , adds a rustic feel to the traditional kitchen and dining area . The flooring was updated with engineered hardwood throughout the main floor and the staircase was refinished in oak and new metal spindles . New three panel shaker doors were installed throughout with matte black hardware .
