I LOVE THIS CAKE BUT I AM WORRIED MY GUESTS MAY ACCIDENTALLY EAT THE GOLD LEAF. IS IT SAFE? Both pure gold and pure silver are considered chemically inert which means they pass through the digestive tract without being absorbed, making it safe to eat. Non-edible leaf, like those used for craft projects, may contain copper which can be poisonous. Ask your cake baker to ensure they are using a pure silver or pure gold leaf (22-24 carats) that is labeled as edible. If they are, the gold or silver leaves are completely harmless and safe for you and your guests to eat! Gold and silver leaf are flavorless and odorless so it will not change the flavor of your cake. - Specialo Cakes, www.facebook.com/Special. ocakes 58
