As such, lively pops of pink reoccur
throughout the home via floral
arrangements, upholstery, and
patterned wallpaper. Says Maria,
“The homeowners are young and
aren’t afraid of color and I wanted
the home to reflect that.”
In addition to a couple of
impactful pink area rugs, the
kitchen encompasses a myriad of
customized elements, including
a coffee station, recycling center,
a built-in knife block, a butcher’s
block, and custom storage. “I wanted
the homeowners to have a space for
everything so that keeping things
tidy in a busy kitchen would be
easy,” says Maria.
When asked where they splurged
in the space, Lina cites the cabinetry
and appliances. “Since we’re a
growing family we wanted to make
sure we had a big enough fridge,
freezer and range to prepare
healthy meals. We also decided
we did not want a microwave and
instead opted for a steam oven as
our second oven to help us prepare
healthy meals.”
Upstairs, the master ensuite
includes faux marble, beveled
subway tile, a free-standing tub, and
a double vanity with ample storage.
Says the designer, “I wanted the
master bathroom to have an upscale
hotel vibe and I think we achieved
just that.”
When renovating kitchens or
bathrooms, Maria stressed the
importance of setting a realistic
budget. To ensure you stay within
that budget, she recommends using
a combination of high-end and
budget-friendly materials. “When
you invest in the right elements it
completely elevates the feel of the
entire space. I suggest splurging on
items like lighting and hardware.” She
adds, “I like to include some form of
marble in my spaces. Even a small
amount of marble makes a room feel
more luxurious.”
