STEM education teachers are using ProjectBased Learning (PBL) where projects motivate students to gain knowledge by giving them a chance to practice the skills they learn in relevant and real-world situations.Other STEM classrooms have partnerships with technology businesses that provide real world applications for STEM subjects. Accountability Reports As part of educational reform in Washoe County schools, the School District now provide Accountability Reports. The report furnished each spring to parents include statistics about a school’s performance as well as achievements, highlights,awards, goals and technology use. Accountability Reports are available online from the Washoe County School District’s website at www.washoe.k12.nv.us on the District link under District-wide accountability report. Age Requirements Nevada law requires school attendance between ages 7 and 17. Kindergarten is part of the regular school program. A child must be five years old on or before September 30 to attend kindergarten and must be six years old on or before September 30 to enter first grade. State law requires that a child must attend a state-approved kindergarten program or take a developmental assessment test to enter first grade.
