ISH show review
From March 10-14, 198,000 visitors
flocked to Messe Frankfurt’s 10 exhibition
halls to see more than 2,400 companies at
this year’s ISH. REI spoke to a selection of
exhibitors to ask if it deserves the tagline
of the World’s leading trade fair for water
and energy
Herve Pierret, business development heating, Daikin Europe NV
ISH has definitely been a success for us and an ideal opportunity to present new
products including our new monobloc heat pump system. The positive feedback we
received from installers is confirmation that what we have developed is in line with their
expectations.
We were also one of the few heating exhibitors which had a clear theme on our stand –
the ErP legislation coming into force in September.
My impression was that, compared to 2013, there were more international visitors as
global economic conditions continue to improve. ISH is certainly the most important
heating show in the world due to both its international aspect and large number of new
product launches.
Mark McManus, managing director, Stiebel Eltron UK
Comfort meets technology was the name of the day at ISH 2015, much in tune with Stiebel Eltron’s
own ethos. We always find that our presentations at ISH have a superb attendance and this year
was no exception. Those attending are genuinely enthused about new innovations and presenting
to the ISH crowd is something that our team looks forward to. Footfall was good this year, meaning
a constant flow of visitors to our stand - many who were keen to experience our latest air source
heat pump solutions, our instantaneous water heating technology and elegantly designed, radiant
glass heating panels.
The only less-favourable observation I would make is that the event wasn’t as internationally
focused as it has been in previous years. It felt to me that it was weighted towards the German
market overall. None-the-less, it presented us with a relevant and well-attended promotional
platform for our products.
Darren McMahon, marketing director, Viessmann
Viessmann sees the industry’s leading trade fair, ISH Energy in Frankfurt, not only as its biggest bi-annual
sales showroom, but as a means of communicating the company’s technology solutions, vision and
guiding energy policy.
Renewable power storage was at the heart of the Viessmann stand, which boasted 40 new innovations this
year. The company presented ‘Power-to-gas’, in Viessmann’s case, a biological methanation process that
produces and delivers synthetic methane to the gas grid from excess wind and solar power, and ‘Power to
heat’: decentralised, short-term storage in buildings that have heat pumps installed.
To that end, Viessmann presented a new range of superior controls and hybrid heating systems –
condensing gas/oil boilers integrated with heat pumps that can optimise their operating modes
automatically, depending on outside temperatures and current energy prices.
Both in principle and forthcoming products, the direction is being set for how society will increase
renewables substitution, while using existing infrastructure and technologies more efficiently.
