CHEF SHOWCASE
Life is
sweet
at Chartwell Waterford
As a toddler, little Tia loved to sit
on the counter watching as her
father cooked and baked.
It wasn’t long before she began
asking, “Can I do it now, Dad?”
Imagine what a proud moment
it was for both of them when Tia
joined her father, Chef Stephen,
a t C h a r t we l l Wa t e r f o rd
Retirement Residence in
Oakville, ON, for her Youth
Apprenticeship Co-op program.
The apple pie doesn’t fall far
from the tree. Tia has inherited
her father’s love for dreaming up
beautiful and delicious desserts.
and Stephen’s team wows
Waterford residents with breath-
taking presentations. He marks
every season and occasion with
themed desserts and even
made a fairy tale-worthy
ice teardrop to showcase
one frozen delicacy.
Tia’s favourite task is
personalizing
cakes to celebrate
special occasions
for the residents,
whom
she
already knew well
from her three
years as a
volunteer.
All great chefs understand that
diners eat with their eyes first
