10. Chartwell Valley Vista in Vaughan,
ON, recently partnered with The Shoe
Box Project Canada, a charity that
collects and distributes gift-filled
shoeboxes to women impacted by
homelessness across Canada. Staff
and residents were thrilled to take part
in the project and were able to collect
and donate enough items to fill
a whopping 44 boxes!
11. Staff and residents of Chartwell
Jardins de le Gare in St-Hyacinthe,
QC, were recently treated to a wonder-
ful performance from none other than
Canadian singer-songwriter André
Lejeune, who serenaded attendees
with his greatest hits. This musical
event also helped raise funds for
Chartwell’s charitable partner, Wish of
a Lifetime Canada.
12. As part of the residence’s H.O.P.E
(Helping Others for Purposeful

Engagement) program, Nada, resident
at Chartwell Southwind in Sudbury,
ON, asked if she could set up shop in
the residence’s lobby and sell some of
her hand-knitted items to raise money
for Maison McCullch Hospice. She was
overwhelmed with joy when after only
two hours, she had sold 48 pairs of
mittens, some toques and socks, and
raised $951, all of which was donated
to the wonderful cause.

14. Chartwell Le Montcalm in Candiac,
QC, held their annual Bowl-o-Thon
organized by volunteers from Popote
Constante, a non-profit organization
in Saint-Constant that deliver at-home
meals to seniors in need. It was a great
event and residents had a wonderful
time raising money for a worthy cause.
13. Residents of Chartwell Westmount
LTC’s Westmount Academy thought
they were attending class to learn
about astronomy, but the Director of
Care at the Kitchener, ON residence
had a different idea in mind. She
decided to teach the residents about
the history of Halloween and spent
time creating candy corn Jell-O, treat
bags and punch with frozen hands as
ice cubes. Everyone was delighted
and a little spooked!
