Sky Ocean Rescue
Kia Oval recently announced their
partnership with Sky Ocean Rescue. An
initiative by the broadcaster to broaden
awareness in how we can protect our
planet, specifically focusing on stopping
the littering of our oceans with plastic.
Amazon outmuscle Sky Formula 1 snapped up Sustainability Partners
Amazon continue their quest to attract
consumers to their subscription based
platform through the acquisition of the
exclusive rights to the ATP World Tour,
having successfully out-bid Sky. Snap Inc and Formula 1 announced a
global partnership to cover it’s
upcoming races on “ Discover ”,
Snapchat’s curated editorial platform. With the PyeongChang Winter Olympics
only half a year away, they have
announced two exciting partnerships,
with the view to improve and assist with
the local environment.
The initiative sees Kia Oval take a step
towards becoming a plastic free venue.
You wouldn’t believe it, but, in the time
it takes to bowl one over in cricket, the
equivalent of four dump trucks worth of
plastic is dumped in the ocean. This deal makes Amazon Prime Video the
home for almost all men’s top -flight
tennis, leaving only the four grand slam
tournaments exclusively linked to other
broadcasting outlets. The Amazon deal
includes the keenly followed ATP finals
at the O2 in London. This is the first time that Formula 1
have collaborated with a major digital
and mobile-first brand. The platform
will make use of “Our Stories”; this
encourages Snapchatters at the same
event to contribute to a collective video
stream, displaying their unique
perspectives. Having partnered with the IOC since
1928, Coca Cola will carry out a local
project to improve the quality of water
in PyeongChang. This supports the
organising committee’s vocal plans of
focusing heavily in supporting the
environment and local sustainability.
To raise awareness and reduce the
amount of single-use plastic consumed,
d u r i n g t h e 1 0 0 th t e s t a t t h e gr o u n d ,
20,000 limited edition refillable water
bottles were given out each day to the
first 4,000 people in attendance. With a bid thought to be worth more than
£10m a year, Amazon have “aced” Sky
and made its first move into live sports
broadcasting outside of the US, with
events being covered in the UK, Madrid,
Paris and Shanghai, amongst others. This allows Formula 1 to develop it’s
plan to screen on multiple digital
platforms. With more than 166 million
daily active users globally, this allows it
to reach an unprecedented online level
of viewership. Telecommunications company KT will
look to provide IT services in order to
improve the tourism readiness of the
South Korean province. Those of you
