I just moved to Conway . How do I register my car ?
When you move to South Carolina from another state , you need to get a local driver ’ s license within 90 days and register your vehicle within 45 days .
You ’ ll be turning in your old license when you get your new one .
When getting your new license and surrendering your old one , you ’ ll need to bring proof of identity , a government-issued birth certificate or passport , your Social Security number , two proofs of your new residence if you want a REAL ID , ( only one is needed otherwise ) and proof of a name change , if applicable .
You ’ ll also be given a vision test and charged $ 25 for an eight-year- South Carolina driver ’ s license .
Military folks , their dependents and students are not required to get a S . C . driver ’ s license .
If you are at least 15 years old and are applying for your very first driver ’ s license , need insurance information or want to replace a lost license , visit scdmvonline . com for additional information . If you are under 18 , your parents or guardian needs to be with you at the DMV .
