Conway residents love their city for many reasons , but for Lyn Hernandez , it ’ s about the smalltown feel .
“ I like the quaintness , even though we are growing by leaps and bounds ,” Hernandez said . A retired early education teacher , Hernandez loves that there is so much to do in Conway now , but local leaders still have found a way to keep the culture family-friendly .
From the long list of new Conway events to renaming the city Halloween for the month of October last year , she loves that more people are coming to hang out downtown .
As a longtime resident , she also
|
appreciates the variety of churches available for people to worship , saying there are more options than there were years ago .
Now the town has something for
Hernandez everybody and more variety of styles , she said .
Timmy Whittaker , an electrician , enjoys Riverfront Park with his family .
“ Conway is a fun small town ,” Whittaker said . “ It ’ s a big family town . There ’ s a good sense of community .”
His wife and son recently took a
|
walk down on the Riverwalk while his daughters Audrey and Gracelyn enjoyed the recently-upgraded playground equipment . Conway is in a good spot , he said , because you can be at the beach in a short time , or you can drive out to the country just as easily .
Kendra Dickerson gets excited about Conway too .
Her family owns
Donzelle ' s , a popular local restaurant , and she
Whittaker
works for the Horry County Solid Waste Authority .
“ I love Conway because it is full
|
of tradition and rich with history ,” Dickerson said . “ Meander through our streets and shops and [ visitors ] will surely fall in love too .”
Location is a big Dickerson factor for her too , from the recreation area offered along the Waccamaw River to the ocean just being minutes away .
“ I love Conway because the folks here are family . We celebrate one another ’ s victories and we come together when tragedy strikes ,” she said . “ Experience it for yourself and you will understand !”
