Motsoaledi Setumo

An actress and someone who is a strong believer in doing you to the fullest, born and bread in Kagiso

Childhood dreams

Growing up i have always wanted to be a Hollywood movie star and im in the right path, for me to get there i need to start here at home and practise get all the recognition, so i really think im falling my childhood dreams

Thabi and Generations

Playing Thabi is something different from how Motsoaledi is. So everytime i take up a role, i want to be the opposite to who i am because i look like a typical sweet girl, girl next door. So for me to be able to pull off such a character that is totally different from the, thats what i am for.

Sex Scene and reaction

For me it was half and half, i was expecting it because i feel like South Africa is not ready and as South Africans we are not ready for such scenes, being raised by blacks parents is taboo to be seen on national TV naked, they don’t even see it as a bikini, to them you are naked and again i feel like they are just blowing things out of proportion, Thabi is a model and she is supposed to be in a bikini or lingerie. Im also understanding where they are coming from as black South Africans, i understand their mindset but personally i am not apologetic about it, i am okay about it and i would do it again.

Criticism

Its a mess, people even DM you. I take it like a human being, there are days where i just laugh it off and there days where i just say buzz off because i try to be suttle but there are times where i take it really personal, there was some guy who said “O dira bofebe ko Generations” and i responded to it because i always believe in standing up for myself and i feel like everybody has an opinion and they can share it just don’t be rude about it and just don’t tag me, tweet about me but don’t tag me.

Similarities between Thabi and Motsoaledi

Yes, we are both go getter, Thabi knows what she wants and she will do anything to get it, i am also like that, she is not scared of anyone and i remember my friend saying to me “did you just shout at Jack Mabaso” and that is me right there because i always stand up for what i want

What does being a woman mean to you?

To stand on what you believe in yourself, no matter what and one thing my father instilled in me is that no matter what and no matter what is going on and even if everyone goes against you, you need to stand on what you believe in. Stand up for who and what you believe on, don’t let anyone stand in what you believe in. Women need to flourish, i have a bikini body and im flourishing because for so many women were being told what to do and what to wear, you are sexy in this and sexy in that
