SINGER STORM TO RELEASE SONG FOR RISE AGAINST HUNGER, WORLDWIDE
Singer and songwriter, STORM, is about to release the new Anthem for the international hunger relief organization, Rise Against Hunger (formerly Stop Hunger Now). The song, aptly named “Rise Against Hunger”, will be used globally to inspire and mobilize the world to help solve this massive international crisis.
“I wrote a song December last year on a flight to Cape Town, for the opening of a Theme Park in Dubai,” says the 18 year old musician. “However, while I was writing this song I decided I was going to keep it for a bigger and better purpose,” continues STORM. “About 2 months ago, Saira Khan, CEO of Stop Hunger Now SA, approached me to write an Anthem for the Organization. That’s when I knew the song had found its purpose.” The single has since been mastered by Dale Schnettler, drummer for Prime Circle, who is currently also producing STORM’s album. With Dale’s magic and final touches the song is now ready to make international waves. The CEO of Rise Against Hunger in Italy has already approached STORM to release the single in Italian as well, of which recording will commence shortly.
The Stop Hunger Now SA Challenge is a massive global initiative, involving 6 countries and in South Africa several cities (Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban, PE, East London, Pretoria, Wildcoast and Pietermaritzburg) whereby corporate volunteers collectively package millions of meals during the
Mandela Month activities. Ms Graca Michel is the Chief Patron of Stop Hunger Now Southern Africa and Chief Zwelivelile Mandela is the Global Brand Ambassador of the Organisation.
This year, a Gala Dinner is being held at the Sandton Convention Centre in addition to the Meal Packaging Events to generate funds for growth into more provinces. In attendance are international celebrities like former Miss World, Rolene Strauss, current Mr World, Rohit Khandelwal, Julia Morley (Owner & Chairman of the Miss World Organisation), Matt Preston (Masterchef Australia Judge & Global Brand Ambassador for Rise Against Hunger) and several government ministers. It is during this Gala Dinner where STORM will launch the Anthem officially by performing it for the very first time.
The Gala Dinner takes place on the 13th of July at the Sandton Convention Centre and is followed by the major meal packaging events on the 14th of July at the Sandton Convention Centre and the Durban ICC. Thousands of corporate volunteers countrywide will attempt to package over 3 MILLION MEALS by giving 67 minutes of their time to this cause. These meals will feed the over 55,000 beneficiaries supported by Rise Against Hunger SA.
“As Frederico Garcia Lorca said,” says STORM, “The day hunger disappears, the world will see the greatest spiritual explosion humanity has ever seen.”
