who is Chillz Syllabarz. Where was he born, and is he outside the music?
Chillz is a rapper greatly influenced by the 90's hip hop, very shy in the crowd but loud on the microphone.
I was born in Harare Zimbabwe in a notorious location called Mabvuku in the mid 80's . I'm the 2nd born in a family of five.
Outside music iam a family guy . Got a beautiful spouse n 3 lovely kids who take most of my time , for me its family first hence I can say I take it as a full time job.
define your music to us.
My music is Kasi oriented first n foremost. Most of us grew up in the location n it wasent easy .I would call my music as my expression of my street experiences. Its unique because I grew up on the 90's hip hop n I hve managed to infuse the old school into the new school which I think sets me apart.
what is your motivation in music?
I can say growing up in the 90's was a blessing for me because it is the greatest era in Hip hop as a whole. What motivates me is raw talent that came with era .If I'm writing I want it to be a classic not jst that song u play n forget about That's what motivates me ...lol.... Don't know if I made sense.
How far would you say you have come in music at this moment?
I have always been musical my whole life .I started writing my own lines in grade 5 . By the time I was grade 9 I had a crew and we had dropped an album. My mistake was to leave music to pursue other commitments. As soon as l learnt that u can only find success n fulfillment in pursuing your passion , I started my music again as a solo artist more mature , determined and dedicated.
what are you aiming to achieve with your music?
So much but to put it in a nut shell I want my music to be the voice of the street , to give sight and direction to the kasi kids, to influence decision making and give hope to the hopeless. No matter where u are in Africa we all face the same problems like racism n inequality , poverty n ish.
Syllabarz no matter how diverse I am is a conscious rapper first above anything
where do you see yourself in the next 3 years?
I see my self having done a classical album and having dished out a couple of single classics as well. I see my self having started my own record label . Certified Hustlaz. I see a lot of collabos . I always dreamed of the day I would hve Proverb on a track.
what is your message to your fellow upcoming artists?
Short n simple never give up
