Spirit of Math, Canada’s largest after-
school school for mathematics, is now
introducing its contests for grades
1 through 6 to the global education
stage.
Spirit of Math’s contests are unique
to most other mathematics contests
in that the focus is to help students
and teachers learn how to think about
typical math problems, focusing on
logical reasoning rather than algebraic
memorization.
Therefore, when schools and
individuals register for the contest,
teachers and students are given access
to online videos explaining how to
think about typical types of questions
by providing full solutions to selected
previous contest questions. The
contests themselves are intended to
be fun and engaging for the young
contestant, providing them with an
introduction to true mathematical
thinking. Rather than a purely
competitive contest, the aim is to help
students and teachers use it in class to
track their progress in logical thinking.
SPIRIT OF MATH IS
PROUD TO ANNOUNCE
THAT THEY ARE
OFFERING GRADES 5 AND
6 CONTESTS FOR THE
FIRST TIME THIS YEAR.
