Aware of Being
In “sitting” with these common usages of renewal, it occurs to me that we most often view their meaning in terms of thinking, making up our mind, or taking action. Yet, allowing these expressions to come forth more fully, my own experience of renewal involves much more of an experience rather than a decision or action even though either or both may result from the experience.
Simply put, renewal translates into repeatedly bringing one’s awareness into the present moment, which is all there ever is. Living in renewal is to be aware of the “is-ness” of each second. All of life renews itself each moment, each second. Observe nature to become aware of this. The animals, plants, water, air, and rocks show the nature of renewal. Listen, observe, feel it with your touch, observe using all of the senses while refraining from qualifying or labeling with the mind…just allowing it all. Our very physical and energetic bodies are constantly engaged in maintaining homeostasis, renewing each aspect of our being.
It’s beginning to be that time of year again - a time that many of us make resolutions often pertaining to renewal of some area of our lives.
Lets consider some examples of renewal before continuing. Contemplating these can be revealing and deepen our understanding.
