Hitler Rises to Power

The Great Depression in Germany gave Hitler a great political opportunity. In 1932, he ran for president against Paul von Hindenburg. He came in second during both rounds of voting, but Hindenburg did appoint Hitler as Chancellor.

As Chancellor, Hitler prepared for Nazism in Germany. He passed the Enabling Act, which allowed his cabinet full legislative powers for four years and allowed Hitler to not completely follow the constitution. From this point, he was able to make all other political parties illegal, leaving only Nazism.

A day before Hindenburg's death, Hitler's cabinet abolished the presidential office and gave the Chancellor and now leader, Hitler, full control over Germany.

World War II

Hitler mobilized the military and withdrew from the League of Nations. He has announced the expansion of Germany.

He, along with other European leaders, have signed the Munich Agreement, which undoes some of the Treaty of Versailles.

On September 1, Germany invaded Poland. France and Britain are now angry at Germany and have declared war on us.

Germany is going to prove its worth after our defeat during World War I; World War II is where Germany regains power.
