INTERVIEW WITH ALVIN MAY & SHAWN SIERRA OF INVESTOR CONNECTS LLC LINDA PLIAGAS Alvin May My background began as a student of real estate investing in 1990. Buying, holding, renting and managing single family homes. My first deal was a wholesale flip to an investor for a profit of $45,000.00. After that I bought my first home, a short sale I closed on two days apart from my second single-family that I now rent. I have been a landlord for 11 yrs now and in my 11 yrs as an investor, real estate has been my passion and drive for wealth creation. I now organize local investors as The Chicago CIO Organizer through the largest network of active real estate investors nationwide, Connected Investors. We endeavor to make Investor Connects LLC, the first choice of all investors to connect with and grow wealth, remembering that the strength of any business is it's network. Shawn Sierra After leaving an unimpressive career as a model and working as a bond broker at Cantor Fitzgerald NYC, I returned home to Chicago without much direction. I started substitute teaching in the Chicago Public School system and also began coaching high school football. It was very fulfilling, but financially, something was still missing. With my back ground and college degree, I felt I should be better off financially. Then in 2007, I attended a Real Estate workshop on how to buy houses with no money down and the "light went on". Although nothing happened immediately, I persisted and after attending a wholesaling course, it all came together for me. I had my first house under contract in less than a week. I met Alvin May 3 1/2 years ago and we formed Investors Connect, LLC, where we lead an investing group and educate our members in real estate investing. My teaching skills are still put to good use, as I coach "newbie" investors on wholesaling. Investor Connects, LLC is poised to become one the country’s most active groups and the best part is that we are helping others to achieve financial freedom in the process and that is something I am extremely proud of.
