Levels of Supervision of an Auxiliary
The regulation has been amended to change the wording of the levels of supervision of an
auxiliary.
Controlled Substances Logs
The amendments provide clarification regarding what a veterinarian must enter into a controlled
substances log when he or she either dispenses or administers a controlled substance.
Written Prescriptions
The amendments change the requirements for written and oral prescriptions.
Veterinarian-Client-Patient Relationship
The amendments introduce stipulations regarding the veterinarian-client-patient relationship
which were previously outlined in College policy.
Medical Records
The amendments to the medical records provisions of Regulation 1093 amend some of the
requirements regarding medical records and stipulate requirements for updating records. The
provisions regarding electronic records have been amended to provide greater clarification and
guidance with respect to making and maintaining electronic records.
The Register
The amendments make a number of changes to the provisions regarding the information to
be kept on the register, and introduce criteria for when information can be removed from the
register.
Revealing Confidential Information
The amendments make a number of changes to the circumstances in which veterinarians may
reveal information concerning a client, an animal, or any professional service performed for an
animal, to any person other than the client or another member treating the animal.
Advertising and Soliciting
A number of provisions relating to advertising and soliciting have been revoked, and a new
section of advertising has been introduced.
