Beginning Orchestra 8 [ elective , every day ] Intended Audience : Grade 8 students who did not take orchestra in grade 6 or grade 7 Major Outcomes :
• Learn the beginning elements of playing an orchestra instrument .
• Produce a good tone and perform in an ensemble .
Projects / Activities : Perform in concerts and independent practice . Instructional Focus : Group instruction . Instructional Sequence : Upon completion of this course , students would enroll in grade 9 orchestra .

All students will develop health-related fitness , physical competence , cognitive understanding and positive attitudes about physical activity that promotes a healthy and physically active lifestyle .
• Students will participate in cooperative learning activities with a focus on basic motor skills while engaging in activities for lifetime fitness .
