SCIOTO VALLEY CHORUS, DUBLIN, OHIO
Scioto Valley Chorus seems to be staying busy these days in Central Ohio! But our anticipation for Hawaii keeps us motivated—there is still music to fine tune, performances to give, choreo to internalize and fundraising to do! Many of our chorus members were able to attend Summer SINGsation and came home with wonderful memories! We were thrilled to meet all our new friends from former Region 23 and are so happy to add them to our new Region 4 family. Listening to all the great choruses and quartets is always one of the best parts of these events, and we would be remiss if we did not mention Darlene Rogers’ classes which were geared directly to our needs as a chorus and as musical leaders. As always, it fun to share our music with our local communities. A portion of our chorus plus High Velocity and Starstuck quartets performed at the Northland International Festival. Our chorus also had the opportunity to sing the national anthem at the Columbus Clippers game on July 5th. This annual event is always a highlight for us and the fans seem to enjoy us as well! And it seemed to gain even more significance with its proximity to Independence Day. And how about those coaching retreats…we always find them fun, challenging, motivating and exhausting! Recently, however, we amped up our retreat by bringing in both Betty Clipman & Carole Kirkpatrick! It was an exciting time as we took apart our songs one phrase at a time and put them back together again working toward the complete musical experience. Guess who turned 25 this year? If you guessed the Scioto Valley Chorus, you were correct! We are inviting all our friends to help us celebrate our 25th Anniversary with a Hawaiian Luau on August 24 at 6pm. We will be sharing memories of the past, but also looking forward to the future and our competition in Hawaii. You can find out more information on our website. So come out and join us! We would love to see you there.
CINCINNATI SOUND CHORUS, CINCINNATI, OHIO
Even though contest is over, we are still preparing for other events! We sang at Summerfair at Old Coney Island, Harmony Fest, AND the Region 4 Summer SINGsation! Singing at the Region 4 Summer SINGsation was lots of fun! It’s always good to be singing for other Barbershoppers, and then listening to the other choruses! Thanks to all those who put it all together for our enjoyment! ITones Quartet did a fabulous job of entertaining us as our emcees – even with Fran Furtner being rather flat – like cardboard! We are all really looking forward to the Region 4 Fall Fling. Cincinnati Sound has been getting some coaching this summer from Molly Huffman. What a great lady! She is so energetic and full of knowledge about singing! All we have to do is “whatever she says,” and we will be at the TOP of the charts! Hats off to our fabulous director, Lynn Hartmuth, for scheduling this for us! Cincinnati Sound Chorus hopes everyone in Region 4 is having a great summer. Stay safe, enjoy every day, and keep SINGING!
