REGINA: This seems counter-productive in a Church which is rapidly losing membership, either through natural attrition (death) or through Catholics simply deciding not to pay their Church tax.
Monika: Yes, it seems so to me and to quite a few others. But this doesn't seem to be a rational decision; in fact it is much more ideological in nature, this resistance on the part of these older clerics.
REGINA: What of the future?
Monika: We are seeing quite a few young people becoming interested in the Mass, and their Faith is being strengthened. Most have not been catechized; they don't know their Faith, but they are attracted by the beauty of this ancient Rite.
And because so many of them nowadays have access to the internet, they don't let other cultural barriers stand in their way. If they want to be married, or to have their children baptized in this ancient rite, they will insist on this.
