REGGAE LIFE JAMAICA MUSIC
FESTIVAL
On Boxing Day, December 26,
Good Year Oval in St Thomas will
play host to the second staging of
Reggae Life Jamaica Music
Festival. The event is the
brainchild of reggae artiste Rohan
‘Prophecy’ Brown, who said
proceeds from the event will go
towards a section of the Princess
Margaret Hospital in the parish.
“Proceeds will be donated to the
facility for the purchase of an
ultrasound machine and a
computed
tomography
(ClT)
scanner that are at the top of the
hospital’s list of most-needed
items,” he said.
The Reggae Life Jamaica Music
Festival
will
feature
live
performances from Richie Spice,
Sizzla, Prophecy and the Reggae
Life Band, Junior X, Hezron,
Warrior King, Uprising Roots Band,
Duane Stephenson, Bugle, Donna
Makeda, Louie Culture, Vershon,
Nateesha Stream, Jameik King,
Jennifer Barrett among others.
“The music festival is poised to be
a staple on Jamaica’s event
calendar that will attract visitors
from around the world to the parish
annually, during the holiday
season. Known for its rich history
and historic sites, St Thomas is the
ideal place to host this event,” he
said.

ZEALAND
Black Uhuru is set for One Love
Festival in New Zealand Jan 27-
28, 2018. One Love returns to
Tauranga in January 2018, with a
first class line-up which includes
Black Uhuru. New Zealand’s
premiere celebration of roots, rock
and reggae has moved from
Waitangi weekend and will now be
held on Auckland Anniversary
weekend, across two days -
January 27 and 28 at Tauranga
Domain.
In true One Love
tradition, some of the biggest
names in music from around the
world have been carefully hand-
selected to play at the festival.

Bringing their
sweet sounds to New Zealand for
the first-time ever is Toronto-bred,
LA-based Magic! Their 2014
smash reggae-pop tune ‘Rude’
held the #1 spot on the Billboard
Hot 100 for six weeks, charted in
41 countries, sold more than 7
million singles and has had more
than a billion hits on YouTube.
They’re joined by the legendary
Shaggy. The Grammy-winning
Jamaican singer has been a force
to be reckoned with since he
exploded on the scene in 1993.
He’s gone on to release hit after
hit, from ‘Oh Carolina’ and
‘Boombastic’ to ‘It Wasn’t Me’ and
‘Strength of a Woman’.
event will host some of the best
homegrown talent, with the first
line-up including House of Shem,
1814, Sons of Zion, Sammy J,
Ardijah, Herbs, Swiss, Foundation
and a special appearance by the
Marley NZ All Stars featuring a
bunch of Kiwi legends, including
Tiki Taane, Laughton and Fran
Kora, Boh Runga, Logan Bell, Ria
Hall and Annie Crummer.
The legendary Black Uhuru is
looking forward to bringing their
Jamaican reggae to Aotearoa next
year. Forming in 1972, the highly-
respected band won the first-ever
awarded Grammy for Best Reggae
Album in 1982 with their gem,
Anthem. As always, the two-day

performances by Raging Fyah,
along with Jah9 and the Dub
Treatment, Notis Heavyweight
Rockaz, EarthKry, Chevaughn,
Koffee and 6 points. The sound
system controls were in the hands
of Dub Club founder, Gabre
Selassie and Dubwise founder,
Yaadcore.
OSUJAH RECORDS
Osujah Records has released Bolt
Dance riddim featuring Kannedd
with his Bolt Dance song. The
song was premiered at Stone Love
HQ. There was also a competition
held for the person with the best
bolt dance move. Lugo Lugo was
the winner for the dance
competition. Other artistes on the
riddim are Ding Dong, Anaicon and
Lady Donna. The riddim is
produced by Jermaine ‘Ajang’
Forde.
Straight outta Compton, J Boog
will make a triumphant return to the
festival. A firm favorite, he’ll be
joined by Hot Rain feat. Siaosi.
The Californian-based Common
Kings are also returning after their
mind-blowing One Love debut in
2016.
Also on the bill are the legendary
British reggae act Aswad who hit
the big time in 1988 with their
chart-topping tune ‘Don’t Turn
Around’. And flying the flag for
Hawaiian sounds are Maoli who
took the islands by storm in 2008
with their debut album Groovin;
also singer-songwriter Anuhea with
her sweet blend of pop and
reggae.

The three-day festival, consumer
expo, trade show and competition
were hosted in Negril, one of
Jamaica’s most famous tourist
resort towns and global ganja
capital. An estimated 1,500
showed up for this event as well as

booths for Jamaican businesses
and interested persons. Parish
associations, organizations and
government
ministries
also
participated including the Ministry
of
Industry,
Investment
&
Commerce, Ministry of Tourism,
Tourism Enhancement Fund and
the
Ministry
of
Science,
Technology, Energy & Mining. The
event began on Friday December
15, 2017 and ended on Sunday
December 17, 2017.
WICKIE WACKIE MUSIC
FESTIVAL RETURNS
Along the shores of Bull Bay, St.
Andrew, sits the homely cottage
and seaside stage of Wickie
Wackie beach. This venue was
blazing on Saturday December 9
when reggae band Raging Fyah
and Elite Organics returned with
the Wickie Wackie Music Festival.
The festival, which has been going
on for seven years, was not held
last
year.
However,
a
representative of the festival’s
production management team,
Palmer House Entertainment, said
that the show is definitely back on
