RX : What has been going on with Char David ? CD : Musically , I am in the process of wrapping up the production for my soon to be released songs of praise album titled “ Breath Of Life ”. I am also preparing for a promotional tour to promote this album .
RX : Tell us about your upcoming show , the Cancer Survivor Fundraiser . CD : The upcoming show features Coco Tea and Louie Culture amongst other exceptional reggae artistes . This fundraising event is to help bring awareness to the community at large . Part proceeds will be donated to cancer society for research into a cure for prostate cancer . I would like to extend a special thanks to brother Coco Tea and Louie Culture for supporting this worthy cause . I would love to see the support from my Canadian based musical family . We all know someone who has been affected directly or indirectly by cancer which is very prevalent in today ’ s society . Please come out in honor of loved ones . Iron sharpens iron , and the countenance of one brightens another .
RX : Why is it so important for you to do this fundraiser ? CD : This fundraiser is in memory of my family members starting from my great grandfather , grand uncles and my dad . There is a family history . My desire is to help create awareness and eradicate this disease from plaguing families leaving so many innocent victims .
RX : Being a cancer survivor , what advice can you give to people suffering from this disease ? CD : The best advice I can give to everyone is to get a yearly physical since early detection can be the difference between life and death . Cancer , if caught in the beginning stage provides a more positive outcome . Eat healthy , daily exercise and a positive attitude is the key to a healthy life . Struggling with prostate cancer for a number of years as been an uphill battle and a fierce setback for me ; my faith in the Most High is what keeps me going . I would like to thank everyone that has reached out to me offering prayers and their unwavering support .
RX : Tell us about the making of your new single “ Miracle ” with Judy Mowatt . CD : The making of the new single with Judy Mowatt was very emotional . I saw her crying on more than one occasion during the recording session . At one point the producer Geoffrey Forrest had to reschedule the session due to the emotional intensity in the studio . Members of the production team said this song brought them back to the memories of one of Judy Mowatt ’ s biggest hit songs entitled “ Black Woman ”.
RX : Plans to promote this single
CD : My plans to promote “ Miracle ” consist of releasing a documentary video that relates to the story of the song . College and mainstream radio will be targeted as well as social and print media . This song is not just for entertainment . It ’ s more of a social commentary where parents and youths can relate .
RX : What was it like working with Judy Mowatt ? CD : Working with Judy Mowatt was a very easy and pleasurable experience . Judy is an awesome talented musician and brings a lot to the table . I have been working with Judy for over fifteen years so things always run smoothly between us . As a living legend and an icon of reggae music , I am very honored for the opportunity to be blessed with her support and counseling .
RX : What is going on with Kings of Kings Promotion ? CD : The management team is presently working on projects to re-launch the label . The goals and objectives are to take Kings of Kings to a higher level .
RX : You wear a few hats as a recording artiste and a promoter amongst other things , which of these talents will you be focusing on and why ? CD : Music and painting will always be my passion . My first love and artistic development was canvas painting which was sold in various art galleries across the island of Jamaica . I don ’ t see myself doing as many tours as I use to but I will always be creating music . I also will be focusing on my passion for painting which is an expression of my creativity .
RX : Anything else you would like to add ? CD : My mission and goal is to contribute and give back to the youths of today and tomorrow . I want to create a legacy which the future generation can use as a platform to elevate themselves . Music will never die and is the only source that unites and bring people together in peace , love and harmony .
