Rooted in the Reggae music of her native Jamaica, Ammoye effortlessly glides from Reggae and Dancehall to Gospel, Soul and R&B with breathtaking ease and presence. Having the pleasure and opportunity to work with some of the biggest producers, Kim gained international recognition when she was featured on Payday Music Group’s “Bad Intro Reloaded Riddim”. She followed that win with ‘Female Singer of the Year’ at the 18th Annual Canadian Reggae Music Awards and a JUNO nomination. The following year she won the JUNO for ‘Reggae Recording of the Year’ for the single “You Won’t See Me Cry” and a ‘Female Singer Of the Year’ nomination at the 19h Annual Canadian Reggae Music Awards. The following year she won a second Juno for her album “WYSIWYG”. Not only does she write for herself but she has co-penned songs on the “My Rules” album by Patria and the “Can’t Get over You” album by Pop Sensation ‘3Deep’. Sonia describes her music as the “G-Pop Reggae Sound” because it’s all about the empowerment of girls. You can catch Sonia live locally singing with the Ska band ‘The Arsenals’.
