REGGAE DIVAS 4TH EDITION
In a genre that is predominantly male dominated , Renascence Entertainment created Reggae Divas , celebrating women in Reggae Music , with the official launch on April 11 , 2015 . Our objective throughout has been to showcase Female Reggae Artists in their own productions in order to highlight their talents and abilities and create opportunity for growth within the industry . Constant radio airplay and live stage performances does not come easily ; they are often delegated to the background as back up vocalists or on collaborative projects . Reggae Divas begins a new era for female Reggae Artists , as the talent of women in Reggae soars beyond the parameter of what is often perceived in this industry . Female Reggae Artists in Canada has been working hard in their career , writing great songs of empowerment and staying focussed on perfecting and improving their craft while being partners , mothers and full time employed workers .
The 1st , 2nd and 3rd Edition of Reggae Divas set the tone for the continued success of this movement as Artists such as Jakki James , Jahsmin Daley , Mandy Woods , Ms Paige , Jay Harmony , Nadera , Empress Minott , Tonya P , Empress Divine , Chelsea Stewart , Chatta , Tasha T , Jamaica International Reggae Artists Nadine Sutherland , Dahlia , Jade Faith , Elle Trema and Mel Dubé , took the stage by storm executing phenomenal performances for their fans of which we are sure is anticipating this year showcase . On May 20 , 2018 ( Victoria Day ) long weekend another batch of Female Reggae Artists will hit the stage for the 4th Edition of Reggae Divas at the Jamaican Canadian Centre . As we Showcase and honor Women in Reggae Music in an effort to recognize , motivate , support , highlight and empower Women in Reggae Music in Canada and abroad . We encourage the industry , from media to producers , promoters ; DJ ’ s and radio personnel to represent Female Reggae Artists on an equal platform as our Male Reggae Artists . This also puts the onus on Female Reggae Artists to continue to stay focused and dedicated to their career in reggae music .
